CESL offers pronunciation courses in different options:

  • Evening Program
  • Tutoring Program
  • Intensive English Program
  • Online Program

Evening Program Pronunciation: This course is for students who want to focus on pronunciation of American English through intensive practice.  Coursework will involve developing self-monitoring skills and a considerable amount of oral practice in order to get the feel for the rhythm and flow of  American English increase spoken English language proficiency.  Students will have access to pronunciation software for practice in our language lab. Prerequisite:  Completion of Level 50 or High Intermediate 1 General English or have the approval of the Program Coordinator.

Tutoring Pronunciation Package: This package is for people who want individualized intensive, focused tutoring especially on their pronunciation. The tutor will work with you on the most challenging aspects of English pronunciation, including difficult sounds, intonation, and rhythm. With this package you will receive a book and a CD to help you improve your pronunciation at home. Your tutor can also train you on a computer pronunciation program. This package also includes library checkout privileges and a lab pass to use in CESL’s computer labs. This package is for all levels.

Pronunciation courses are considered part-time study, and thet are open to students at least18 years of age and/or high school graduates. Students must be literate in their first language and currently in the United States. Mexican nationals may apply for the F-3 commuter visa.

2: Submit payment (total varies by program)
3: Submit MMR (applies to everyone)

All students born after 1956 must show proof of MMR immunization. Print the proof of immunization form.

Students on certain non-immigrant visas may study up to 11.5 hours per week as part time students.
