Online Programs

The Center for English as a Second Language is proud to present its Online Program designed to meet the needs of non-native speakers of English who wish to pursue their educational goals online. All CESL Online courses employ a 10-hour, 30-hour/8 week, or 50-hour/8 week-format that depends on the amount of work required to complete the course. Upon completion of the courses, all participants receive Certificates of Completion.

CESL Online Program offers courses in the following areas:

  1. General English: Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced ESL
  2. Skill-Based English: Pronunciation, Academic Listening and Note-taking, Beginning/Intermediate/Academic Writing.
  3. English Grammar: Beginning, Intermediate, Advanced.
  4. Test-Taking Strategies and Techniques: TOEFL PBT/ITP, TOEFL iBT, IELTS, and TOEIC.
  5. 50-hour Teaching English as a Foreign Language Certificate program (Beginning, Advanced).
  6. English for Specific Purposes: English for Nursing, Engineering, Journalism, etc.

Prerequisites
Application and Registration

All CESL Online courses will have prerequisites that participants are required to meet in order to achieve success and maximize their learning outcomes.

Required Materials:

All courses:

  • Fast Internet connection (cable or DSL recommended).

Some courses:

  • Textbook;
  • Set of headphones and a microphone;
  • Webcam.

Instructors:

All CESL instructors are highly qualified professionals with M.A. and/or Ph.D. degrees in TESOL or a closely related field. They are regular faculty on-site at CESL, working closely with CESL’s Online Program Coordinator and other specialists in educational technology.

 

 

 

Application:

We have a simple application and admissions procedure.

  1. Print the CESL application.
  2. Complete the application and SIGN it.
  3. Include your TOEFL or IELTS score (an unofficial copy is acceptable).
  4. Use regular mail or fax to submit your application.

Registration:

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration Deadline:

Registration is open until one week before a course begins or until the course is full (maximum 25 participants per course), whichever comes first.

Course Cancellation:

CESL reserves the right to cancel any course because of low registration or other events not within the program’s control. In the unlikely event of cancellation, participants will be notified and offered the option to switch to a different course or receive a full refund.
