On Sat. 9/16 the CESL Activities team will go explore Kartchner Caverns in southeast Arizona. Opened to the public as a State Park in 1999, Kartchner Caverns is a living and growing cave system encompassing over 2.4 miles of passages. Made out of limestone, one can observe spectactular speleotherms that are over 50,000 years old and still growing. The Throne Room features one of the world's longest (over 21 feet) soda straw stalactites and a 58-foot high column called Kubla Khan.
We will enjoy a 90-minute guided tour through the Rotunda and Throne Room and have ample time for sightseeing and exploring on our own afterwards. Wear comfortable shoes (no flip flops) and bring your own water. Meet in front of CESL at 10am. This is definitely an experience you won't forget. $30 includes round-trip transportation, park entrance fee, and guided tour. Register now to reserve your spot.
