For twelve years, I worked as a school teacher in El Paso, Texas, where I taught bilingual education/ESL. Before that, I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Paraguay, where I taught beekeeping! I enjoy photography and art, as well as reading and learning about language. |

Kathleen Hertenstein, Faculty, khertens@email.arizona.edu I have been teaching in the U.S. for over ten years and last school year, I had the opportunity to teach in Nogales, Mexico. I am currently teaching in the I.E.P. and I truly enjoy teaching ESL students and learning about other cultures. Last summer, I attended the TEFL Program at the University of Arizona and learned a great deal about teaching English as Second/Foreign Language and had a great deal of fun, too. I look forward to pursuing a career in ESL, continuing my education and traveling the world. |

Mike Lindsey, Coordinator for Curriculum and Assessment, mhl19@email.arizona.edu As a storyteller I’ve always known the importance of motivation for teaching and learning. After a teaching career of more than 20 years, in places such as Texas, Japan, Florida, the Navajo Reservation and Tucson, it is an honor to serve both students and teachers in my current position at CESL. Computer labs, library, curriculum, textbooks, tech equipment, supporting faculty, and supervising library and lab personnel are some of the things that keep me busy and make my days fly by. |

Glen Piskula, Faculty, piskula@email.arizona.edu Greetings! I’m one of CESL’s new teachers but no stranger to the ESL scene. Born and raised Milwaukee, Wisconsin, I have an extensive knowledge of fine cheeses and watery beers. It was in Madison, Wisconsin that I began teaching ESL. In Japan, I spent a number of years teaching English, climbing mountains, and running marathons (sometimes all three at the same time!). I also have experience teaching English Composition at the university level, so if you ever have a question about college-level writing, don’t be afraid to ask. In fact, don’t be afraid to come in and visit for any reason. I’m one of CESL’s photographers, so if you see me in the hall with a camera you could end up in a picture board or publication. I look forward to getting to know all about you and the cultures you come from. See you in class! |
