CESL International Chess Tournament

Chess is an international game of strategy and skill. As part of International Education Week CESL will be offering our first International Chess Tournament. Registration is $5 and the winner will receive an engraved glass trophy with their name on it as well as a FREE ticket to the CESL Fall 2017 Closing Ceremony reception at Old Tucson Studios.

The rules are simple: all participants must register by Mon. 11/13. Competition will take place during the week of Mon. 11/13 through Fri. 11/17.  All participants will play each other in timed 10 minute matchesMost games will take place between 12:00-1:00pm or after 3:00pm in the CESL Student Learning Center (CESL 212). Please be available to compete during these hours if you register. 

Every match is scored as follows: Win = 2 points; Draw = 1 point each; Loss = 0 points. At the end of the week the participant with the most points is the winner. The winner will be featured in the CESL Weekly newsletter AND presented with their trophy during the CESL Fall 2017 Closing Ceremony at Old Tucson Studios on Fri. 12/8 (5:00-10:00pm). Any current or former CESL student is eligible to join and compete. 

Register and pay the $5 entrance fee in CESL 101 or the CESL Student Learning Center (CESL 212) by Mon. 11/13 at 12:00pm. Cash only please
