Located in the geographic center of The University of Arizona campus, CESL enjoys its own modern learning facilities dedicated exclusively to English language training, U.S. cultural studies and special programs. Campus map CESL operates a 19,547 square-foot building of classroom and administrative space in the heart of The University of Arizona campus. Its building has been recognized by the U.S. Registry of Historic Places for its intrinsic value and southwestern architectural beauty In addition to our own facitlites , CESL students have acces to most university facilities. CESL is proud of its two state-of-the-are computer Labs and extensive software collection.
The Ernestine A. Neff Memorial Library hosts a collection of 3,500 volumes and periodicals on ESL methodology, curriculum development, program management and instruction for teachers, as well as reading carts for extensive reading in the classroom. The CESL librarian assists faculty and students with research and internet resources. |

Campus Health Service. CESL students on F or J visas are required to pay a campus health fee. This fee allows them to use the Campus Health Service during its open hours. Doctor's visits and most prescriptions are covered by the health center fee. Students may be charged for X-rays and some tests. CESL's Health Insurance covers emergency care and will pay for a specialist if the Campus Health Center refers the student. Univeristy Bookstore. CESL students buy their textbooks required for your CESL classes in the ASUA bookstore located at the west end of the Student Union Building. The CESL textbooks are located downstairs with other textbooks. Downstairs, you can find CATS (Computer and Technology Store) where you can buy computer hardware and software. Campus Recreation Center CESL students may join the Campus Recreation Center. They will pay $48.00 for 16-week semester or the summer session. Ask for the half-price semester discount if you are registering for CESL session 2. University Police Department has the responsability of enforcing state laws and University rules and regulations. The officers have the same authority as police officers of any other police agency in the State of Arizona and will assist you to the best of their ability if you have a problem or need that might be resolved by the Police Department. Emergency call boxes are located throughout the campus. They are red phone boxes located on tall blue poles. You should look for and find the emergency call boxes near your usual pathways. |
Libraries are an important part of your academic life at the university. Not only will you learn to use them for research and reference, but you will also find magazines and newspapers from your country. Although CESL student may not check matrials out of the library, they can use the facilities. MAIN LIBRARY and SCIENCE LIBRARY The Oriental Studies Collection, containing periodicals and newspapers in Chinese, Japanese and Arabic, is located on the 5th floor of the Science Library. WILDCAT ASUA students publish a daily campus newspaper called the Wildcat which includes the daily international and national lead stories, but concentrates on campus news. The calendar lists all club and organization meetings for that day. The classified ads advertise apartments or rooms for rent, roommates wanted and any number of items students want to buy or sell. Also check the Wildcat for money-saving coupons. MUSEUMS AND POINTS OF INTEREST ON CAMPUS The UA campus has many interesting museums and special exhibits. You may visit these with your class. If not, you should try to visit these places on your own or with a friend. |
CAMPUS CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS There are hundreds of campus clubs and organizations. To find out which clubs are meeting today look at the Wildcat. Get involved with a club of your interest. This is an excellent way to meet people and find friends. These meetings are open to the public and you should try to attend meetings of clubs that interest you. TICKETS FOR ATHLETIC EVENTS You may buy tickets to UA athletic activities, including the football games from the Ticket Office at McKale Center or by phone with a Visa or Master Card. Ticket Office hours are M-F from 9:00 AM- 6:00 PM. Football tickets vary in price depending on where the seats are located and which team the UA is playing. CENTER FOR MIDDLE EASTERN STUDIES The University of Arizona Center for Middle Eastern Studies is one of several in the United States devoted exclusively to the comprehensive study of this key region of the world. The area of the Center's concern ranges from North Africa and the Fertile Crescent to Israel, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Islamic Central Asia. Established in 1975, the Center coordinates degree programs in Middle Eastern languages and literature, interdisciplinary programs in the social sciences, humanities and various technical and applied fields. The Center includes close to seventy faculty members representing approximately thirty different departments and seven colleges throughout the University. |
